Last night I had the privilege of being able to view the first collection of photographs taken by a young and talented new artist, Nathan Halliday entitled 'Capturing Vietnam'. He recently took a life-changing and inspiring journey to Vietnam and was able to bring back the "beauty in simplicity" he saw in the Vietnamese people. The photographs tell a personal story and brought about a feeling of peace that isn't often found these days. From village women with faces full of stories and wisdom to children playing and enjoying life. The natural beauty of the mountains and rice fields were enough to leave you longing for more. It was truly a collection I couldn't help but feel touched by and what adds the icing on the cake is that 20% of the proceeds of photographs sold would go to their Vietnamese tour guide. He helped guide them on their trip and is beginning a new business of his own. We definitely love shopping for a cause here at TastyLittleDish and what better than receiving a beautiful work of art while knowing you are helping someone start a new life. This was a moving and visually impactful series of photographs that keeps us on the edge of our seats and looking for what Nathan has in store for us in the future.

Another interesting point of interest is the gallery the collection was held at. The David W. Streets gallery in Beverly Hills has a wonderful collection of modern, contemporary, and fine art along with sculptures and gorgeous antique furniture. When speaking to David he informed me of the many types of events held here from viewings to tastings to private dinner parties. It is a gorgeous space with an impeccable collection in an estate-like setting. I'm sure we'll be seeing more of him and his elegant events to come.

Last night I had the privelege of viewing the latest handbag collection by Zara Terez. It was a fanciful array of feathers, sequins, suede, leather, chains, and seriously girly fun. Zara Zimmerman is a third generation designer based in New York who was on the mission of creating fashionable and luxurious handbags at an attainable price point. She says, "the fashion industry has taken the consumer to such a different level and so high that its time to bring it back to reality". With this in mind, she has created a brand that is fun, poppy, and different while being affordable for the everyday fashionista. Zara also is doing her part in helping this fledgling economy by producing all of her bags in New York, sourcing leathers from local and Italian tanneries. What I find so interesting about the collection is what she calls her three categories: Clubbing, Strolling, and Schlepping. For a night out on the town, the last thing we want is a bulky bag dragging us down. It is because of this that she has come up with the most ingenious and crafty way of keeping your hands free and your valuables close. In comes your perfect "clubbing" option, the 14th Precinct Holster, a compact purse that has just enough room for your neccessities while staying snug on your body. It comes in colored suede and leather and at $125 its sure to be on everyone's holiday wish list! For the everyday, a great "strolling" bag would be the Prince and Elizabeth. Roomy enough for your day to day items, versatile with a long strap, and a bit of whimsy and flare with the fringe to stand out from the sea of identical "it" bags. For "schlepping" around town, try the Nolita Grande, a larger version of its clubbing counterpart the Nolita clutch. It has plenty of room for a laptop, scarf, and any other "just in case" items and features an adjustable strap. Gorgeous and practical! Another great feature of Zara's bags are the linings, ranging from her Studio 54 disco sequins to comic book art to rock n' roll skulls and roses. Considering the part of the bag we look at most often is the inside, why not make it something worth looking at! I asked Zara who the ideal Zara Terez girl is and shes says, "She is someone who is confident, artsy and sophisticated. She believes in herself and what she does, and doesn't take no for an answer." The launch for LA-based footwear company, KM2, was held this week at EM & Co boutique on Melrose and it was definitely a feast for the eyes. This hot line features a set of not so basic styles to start with and then can be customized to fit your particular styles and wishes. From feathers to studs to chains to ornate fabrics and ribbons, there is no limit to how special and unique you can make yours. I took a moment to chat with Creative Director Megan Gelber and discuss the line.

What kind of girl do you envision wearing your shoes?
The girl who loves to enjoy life. Our whole tagline is "Shoes to Live In". Someone who can wear these shoes to the grocery store, to the Grammy's, wherever you may go, travel the world.

Where did you come up with the idea to be able to customize the shoes? I think that's absolutely genius!
You know how you always want to wear something that no one else has, but maybe you want it similar? You also still want to feel really special all the time so we wanted to make everyone feel really special. Kind of like the Carrie Bradshaw shoes in Sex and the City, we wanted to create that special shoe.

And how long have you had the line?
We just came out in August, and have been working on it for nine months.

So then is this something that you've always wanted to do or just spontaneously came into it?
Our dad is in the shoe business and so we kind of grew up with that and its something you always want to do and you dream of but you never think oh I can really do that, I'm too young to do it. Then one day we were just like, "We're just gonna go for it and trust God, and here we are."

I've noticed that feathers and lace are very in right now and a lot of styles incorporate those trends, is that something you try to stay on top of?
That's what's been the best part about what we do because we kind of adapt to what anybody wants and thats how I've been dong it for myself. I think I'll have this shoe and I'll have dreams of it then draw it up.

Do you have a set amount of trims you can put on the shoe or is it open to what ever you want to get?
Well we make like set styles, like all of these are made on a set style . If someone wants to order and do something special there's no limit.

As many of you are aware, Lindsay Lohan was named Artistic Advisor for Ungaro's Spring 2010 collection. Alas the show has come and was essentially a cartoonish trainwreck. There were an insane amount of hearts throughout that resulted in a slight gag reflex. Heart pasties, heart hair pieces, heart lapels... too many hearts. While we're on the topic... what's with the pasties? Since when did they become anything appropriate for a catwalk?? While Lindsay is definitely not known for her amazingly creative fashion sense (6126 leggings, anyone?) I did expect the creative geniuses at Ungaro to at least have the common sense to say no to her. I mean who honestly believes that any woman in her right mind is going to wear a shirt that barely covers her chest with tangerine rouched leggings? As expected, the collection has been torn to shreds by eveyone from WWD to Style.com ... even to CocoPerez which, let's face it, isn't even an authority in fashion! Hopefully Ungaro has learned their lesson and will just let Lindsay fade into the horizon.

It has just come to my attention that Lauren Conrad's novel L.A. Candy is officially being turned into a full length feature film. I don't know exactly how exciting this is for anyone besides LC herself. I am still amazed at how this book was able to stay at the NY Times Bestseller list for 14 weeks straight. It is an incredible feat for someone who essentially is penning everything we've already seen on tv. I get it, you were a normal girl who is now famous from doing very little. Either way, I definitely won't be spending any cash on this but who knows, maybe I'll check it out when it's finally gone to cable. How about you lovelies? Who is actually looking forward to this further adaptation of her life?

The Luella girl has grown up and taken a fashion cue from Park Avenue princesses. What I love about Luella is that she isn't afraid to play with frills, tulle, and pattern. This time around, however, we see another side to her genius. There is a wonderful array of pastels, polka dots, texture and tulip silhouettes. One of my favorite details has to be the heart cut-outs which make an already girly dress even that much more playful. The make up is also a great mix of playful youth and mature chic. Intense eyeshadow in bold colors make a strong statement while the hair is up in a messy bouffant bun adorned with an oversized bow. This collection is a girls dream and I can’t wait to see the pieces in the flesh!

Here is Jennifer Stone of Wizards of Waverly Place at the Young Hollywood party wearing some of the cutest shoes I’ve seen in a long time. These Davis by Ruthie Davis heels are very Marc Jacobs-esque with the embellished heel but are identifiably Ruthie in the color-blocking. Ruthie Davis is known for having stand-out heels with bold colors and a sexy kick-butt attitude. I also love that Jennifer paired hers with a chic LBD and a wrist full of fun cuffs. She’s young, she’s hot, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot of her to come!

There were Kenneth Cole bags for a fraction of the price, Betsey Johnson tights in lace and bold fall colors that didn't break the bank, and deals left and right that had me filling my cart to the brim. Lately, though I have been focusing my shopping habit on things centered around the home, specifically the kitchen. In these days with people eating out less and staying in more, there is a larger desire to make one's home more inviting and personable. So while I was perusing Marshalls' home department I was delighted to find great bargains that not only look chic but are at half or less than what I would have originally paid in department stores. I was able to get a set of four placemats that go with my decidedly monochromatic dishes, a gorgeous French press, stemless wine glasses, cranberry walnut granola, Kona coffee, mixed peppercorns, and tuberose & peppercorn hand cream all for under $55! A definite steal in my eyes. So if you're looking to add a few key pieces to your house but don't have the means to stock up at Williams Sonoma, head over to your nearest Marshalls and have your pad looking like a million bucks!
